JAN DAVID BAKKER

He is Assistant Professor at Bocconi University and a research associate at the Centre for Economic Performance and the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London. Before joining Bocconi, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at University College London. He holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford and received his BSc from the University of Tuebingen. Jan has worked for the European Central Bank and as a consultant to industry stakeholders on the effects of Brexit on supply chains. His main research interests and publications are in the fields of international trade and urban economics. In his on-going research projects he investigates the diverse effects of trade on metropolitan regions and smaller towns across European countries, the propagation of shocks along supply chains, and optimal regulation of the housing market. His work on international trade and regional inequality has been recognized through several awards including the WTO Essay Award for Young Economists.
